There are many minors at risk of poverty and social exclusion. The consequences of youth poverty are many, including violence, early school drop out and an unstable future, with no quality jobs.

When the phenomenon affects a large part of the population, the whole society becomes weaker, poorer, and more insecure.

Sport is good and it can be the key.

Practicing sporting activity is important and has a significant influence on the development of young people: in physical, mental, social and moral areas. Thanks to sport, young people can develop autonomy, self-esteem and a good sense of collaboration.

Sport is a very important element in the formation of a young person, it represents one of the educational contexts in which the young person is formed: such as that of the family, school and peer groups.

The opportunities offered by sport are many.

related to sporting activity, we can live a lot of experiences:

participation in competitions, peers comparison, meeting new people, knowing oneself and one's limits, winning a prize, self-determination, overcome fears, develop passions, new friendships, a sense of team membership.

Among the opportunities that sport offers there is the opportunity of meeting a coach or a youth worker, who becomes a point of reference in the educational field who can help us in a difficult time.

These opportunities are very important in people's lives and should be accessible to anyone regardless of social class, culture, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.

In order to make sport accessible to all young people, we need three elements.

The main actors who can create inclusive sport are two: 1) sports associations and 2) Coaches/Youth workers. The third element is 3) the diffusion of the concept of "sport as a tool for social inclusion".

Main Goal

Support sports associations and Youth Workers in developing an inclusive environment capable of offering equal opportunities even to young people at risk of poverty and social exclusion

Specific Objectives

1. Strengthen cooperation between sports organizations: through the development of good practices in governance, administration, activities, and training that allow sports associations to create an inclusive environment.

2. Train the trainers: to improve their key competencies and develop transversal and multisectoral skills. The integrated approach encourages the development of innovative solutions, aimed at responding to the lack of equal opportunities for young people at risk of poverty and social exclusion.

3. Promote the multifaceted aspects of sport: its active role in social inclusion, its benefits in terms of physical and mental well-being, and the opportunities for active participation that it also offers through voluntary activities

Characteristics of the project:

It is therefore important to work on these three aspects:

1. The sporting organizations can play a very important role. They can improve methods, establish best practices, and innovative tools to allow access to young people at risk and make it a place full of opportunities, accompanying them towards perspectives.

(hence the specific objective 1)

2. Youth Workers: the quality of the sporting experience of young people is strongly influenced by the coach in particular by his personality and how he relates to the young. The Youth Worker is not just a technical coach but has an important role in shaping the young's personality. Youth Workers should benefit from a specific training process to strengthen their role to face various youth problems (parents, school, friends, partners, sexuality, drugs, family problems, violence, abuse).

(hence the specific objective 2).

3. In common speech, the concept of sport is linked just to competition and physical performance. This type of definition is limited: sport facilitates the growth of the younger and can promote psycho-physical well-being in contrast to discomfort, deviance, violence, and drug addiction.

(hence the specific objective 3)

ASD SPARTA PUGILATO, Italy.

ASD SPARTA PUGILATO was born in 2014 with the aim of creating a boxing gym in Rome. Not just boxing, but also taekwondo and other combat sports. Among his teachers he boasts names of world champions in different categories.
Sparta Boxing was born as a clear social project. In fact, the headquarters of the association, where numerous activities are held every day for children and for the elderly, is located in a buffer zone between the bourgeois neighborhoods of central-north Rome, and the most popular neighborhoods of the western suburbs of Rome, which is famous for having a very dense and not so involved urban fabric. The meeting point of these different worlds, obviously, is a strong stimulus for the association and for its coaches, youth workers and volunteers.
They can carry out integrated educational programs and methods, where teaching of the disciplines, cross with the group's education: respect the opponent and undo the knots of adolescence.
